What is a pallet scale?
A pallet scale is a low, flat weighing platform on load cells, wide enough for a loaded pallet, with a separate indicator that shows the weight in kilograms.
You bring the pallet to the scale on a pallet truck, set it down, read the weight and move on. It replaces guessing, carrier surcharges and weighing cases one at a time on a bench scale. Our launch pallet scale is one model: the 2000 kg Pallet Scale, model code LPT-PLS2000.

Pallet scales with ramp for hand pallet trucks
If you load the scale with a hand pallet truck you need a way up onto the platform. There are three ways sites do it: an access ramp on one side, a pit frame so the platform sits flush, or loading by forklift or electric pallet truck, which needs neither.

Pallet scale capacity: is 2000 kg enough?
For most UK cash and carry, wholesale and food distribution pallets, yes. Most grocery, drinks and dry goods pallets sit inside 2000 kg including the pallet itself, with headroom for dense loads such as oil, rice or sugar.
Choose a capacity above your heaviest load including the pallet. Large pallet scales above 2000 kg are quoted on request. If your pallets regularly exceed 2000 kg, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you what we can quote from our factory partners.

Platform size for UK and Euro pallets
A UK standard pallet is 1200 x 1000 mm and a Euro pallet is 1200 x 800 mm. A pallet scale platform needs to take the larger of the two with the load sitting fully on the deck, not overhanging an edge.
Tell us which pallet you use and we confirm, in writing with your quote, a platform that takes it fully on the deck. The platform height is confirmed at the same time, so you can check the footprint against your goods-in area before you order.
Check-weighing, not trade approved
Our pallet scale is for check-weighing. That means goods-in checks, despatch weights, carrier declarations and counting by weight. It is not for setting the price a customer pays.
If you sell goods by weight, the law asks for a trade approved scale under the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and the Non-automatic Weighing Instruments Regulations 2016. Read what a trade approved scale is and when you need one, and message us if you need an approved model quoted.
Pallet trucks with scales
We do not list a pallet truck with built-in scales at launch. Today the fastest route is a fixed pallet scale at goods-in and a powered truck to move the pallet.

Made to order at our factory partners and delivered to your door by pallet carrier. Typical lead time 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation. Deposit 30% on order, balance before despatch.

- Pay the deposit and production starts at our factory partners. Orders are not cancellable once in production.
- Pay the balance before despatch. Delivery is kerbside by tail-lift, so have a pallet truck ready to move the scale inside.

UK limited companies and LLPs can apply for trade credit, subject to checks. It takes a few minutes on the trade account page: business name, company number, contact details, delivery postcode and what you buy.

What size platform do I need to weigh a pallet?
One that takes a UK standard pallet, 1200 x 1000 mm, and a Euro pallet, 1200 x 800 mm, with the load fully on the deck. Tell us which pallet you use on WhatsApp and we confirm the platform dimensions in writing with your quote, so measure the space at goods-in before you order.
Are pallet scales as accurate as platform scales?
A fixed pallet scale on level concrete is as consistent as a smaller platform scale of the same type, but it reads in coarser steps because the capacity is higher. For goods-in and despatch checks that is more than enough. Weigh beams and pallet truck scales vary more because the load sits on a moving frame.
Is 2000 kg enough capacity for a full pallet?
Yes for most grocery, drinks and dry goods pallets. Choose a capacity above your heaviest pallet including the pallet itself. Dense loads such as oil, rice and sugar still sit inside 2000 kg. If your pallets are heavier, message us and we will say what we can quote.
Do you sell pallet trucks with built-in scales?
No, not at launch. Weigh the pallet on the 2000 kg pallet scale and move it with a 1500 kg or 2000 kg electric pallet truck. A weigh-scale pallet truck lifts and weighs in one move but is less consistent than a fixed floor platform. Message us on WhatsApp if you need one quoted.
How much does a pallet scale cost in the UK?
We quote trade prices ex VAT on WhatsApp rather than publishing a pallet scale price, because every pallet scale is made to order at our factory partners and the price depends on quantity, platform size and access option. Send the model code, quantity and postcode and we confirm the price, delivery charge and lead time in writing.
Weigh beams or U-frame: which pallet scale do I need?
A fixed platform is the most stable and accurate choice for a goods-in bay, and it is what we list at launch. Weigh beams are two portable bars laid under the pallet for odd loads. A U-frame joins two beams so a pump truck drives straight in. We do not list beams or U-frames yet. Ask on WhatsApp.
Is our 2000 kg pallet scale a floor scale?
Yes. The 2000 kg Pallet Scale is a fixed low floor platform you bring the pallet to, which is the most stable pallet scale type on level concrete. Weigh beams, U-frame scales and weigh-scale pallet trucks go to the pallet instead and are not in our launch range. The guide compares each type in detail.
How do I weigh a pallet with a hand pallet truck?
Wheel the pallet up an access ramp onto a low profile pallet scale, lower the forks so the pallet rests on the deck, and read the indicator. Withdraw the truck if you want the pallet weight alone, or leave it on and tare it. Pit mounting removes the ramp so the truck rolls straight across.
Does a pallet scale need a ramp?
Only if you load it with a hand pallet truck. A low profile platform needs a short ramp on one side, or you can pit mount it flush with the floor. A forklift or electric pallet truck lifts the pallet over the edge and needs no ramp. Tell us how you load when you ask for a quote.
Do you hire pallet scales or sell used ones?
No. London Pallet Trucks is sales only. Every pallet scale is new and made to order at our factory partners, quoted at trade prices ex VAT to business customers. We do not hire and we do not sell used equipment. Ask on WhatsApp for a written trade price with the delivery charge and lead time.
