What it is for

A roll cage is a steel mesh cage on castors that moves a full load of goods from the delivery vehicle to the back of house and on to the shop floor without re-handling. In the UK the same product is sold as a roll container, roll pallet or cage trolley. The guide explains roll cage versus roll container.

This model is for supermarkets, cash and carries, wholesalers, food distributors and warehouses that unload deliveries by the cage and wheel them straight to the aisle. It is zinc plated steel, so it stands up to loading bays and yards, on 125 mm (5 inch) polyurethane (TPU) castors that suit smooth concrete and polished retail floors.

It is the supermarket roll cage and warehouse roll cage in our range: a heavy duty roll cage in zinc plated steel for daily deliveries. Whether it is supplied as a 4 sided roll cage trolley or with an open side, and whether it nests as a nestable roll cage, is confirmed in writing with your quote. If you are looking for supermarket roll cages for sale in the UK, we sell new only, to business customers, at trade prices ex VAT.

  • Zinc plated steel. See zinc plated versus powder coated.
  • 125 mm (5 inch) polyurethane (TPU) castors. See trolley castors explained.
  • Used for deliveries, parcel sorting, laundry and returns as well as retail replenishment.
  • Sales only. We do not hire and we do not sell used. Business customers only.

Roll cages are heavy when loaded. Follow the HSE guidance on pushing and pulling wheeled loads summarised under safe use of roll cages before your fleet arrives.

Need a trolley for customers or pickers filling cases in the aisle instead? See the Narrow Aisle Cash and Carry Trolley 246 L, 1120 x 640 x 1055 mm.

What is supplied

Each roll cage is supplied new, zinc plated, fitted with 125 mm (5 inch) polyurethane (TPU) castors.

  • Supermarket Roll Cage (Roll Container), Zinc Plated, 125 mm Polyurethane Castors (SKU LPT-RC1)
  • 125 mm (5 inch) polyurethane (TPU) castors, fitted

The overall size, the number of sides, whether the cages nest, the rated load, the castor layout and brake option, any shelf option and whether the cage arrives assembled are confirmed in writing with your quote, together with the warranty period. If your risk assessment needs a rated load in kg before you order, ask on WhatsApp and we confirm it with the factory. The guide covers 2, 3 or 4 sided roll cages and choosing a rated load.

Compare with the trolleys in the range

One roll cage and three trolleys, one range minimum. A roll cage moves a whole delivery from vehicle to shelf; a cash and carry trolley is filled case by case in the aisle.

This roll cage is listed on roll cages (roll containers), the trolleys on cash and carry trolleys, and the shared questions are answered at cash and carry trolley and roll cage FAQs.

Frequently asked questions

What rated load does the zinc plated roll cage carry?

The rated load in kg is confirmed in writing with your quote, not printed here, because we publish only figures our factory partners have confirmed for this model. Send the code LPT-RC1 on WhatsApp with the heaviest load you move and we confirm the rating before you order. The buying guide explains how to choose a rated load for your risk assessment.

Why does the zinc plated roll cage have polyurethane castors rather than rubber?

Polyurethane (TPU) castors wear more slowly than rubber on smooth concrete and polished retail floors and are the usual choice where floor marks matter, which is where a roll cage spends most of its life. The 125 mm (5 inch) size rolls over door thresholds and tail-lift edges. If your cages run mostly on rough yard surfaces, tell us on WhatsApp.
